LANGHORNE, Pa. – Today, Pop Warner announced the finalists for the 6th Annual Pop Warner College Football Award. The award, established in 2010, recognizes a graduating senior who has made a difference on the field, in the classroom and in his community, which are attributes Pop Warner emphasizes with its young scholar athletes.

The 2015 finalists include UCLA offensive lineman Jake Brendel; Wake Forest linebacker Brandon Chubb; Duke safety Jeremy Cash; and United States Military Academy (West Point) running back Matt Giachinta.

The Pop Warner College Football Award is presented in December at the annual Pop Warner Super Bowl at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL. The inaugural award was presented to former University of Nebraska defensive back and current New York Giant Prince Amukamara. Last year’s winner was former Stanford University safety and current New England Patriot Jordan Richards.

Last year’s finalists included Richards, University of Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota; University of Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah; and University of Florida offensive lineman Max Garcia.

“To play Pop Warner football, we require that our young athletes put ‘student’ before ‘athlete’ and emphasize that they work to excel in the classroom. We also ask that they demonstrate hard work and good character in the community,” said Jon Butler, Executive Director of Pop Warner Little Scholars.

“We established the Pop Warner College Football Award to honor a student-athlete who has demonstrated those values at the college level, and who serves as a positive example for our young athletes both on and off the field. The award is open to thousands of college student-athletes from across the country, and we found an exceptional group of finalists in Jake, Brandon, Jeremy, and Matt.”
